So it has been almost a year since I took the blogging plunge and what a wild ride it has been! I have met so many wonderful people and completely o.d'd on eye candy! A huge thank you to everyone who has ever stopped by and wandered around here for a while. I hope you enjoyed your stay and I look forward to another year!
To celebrate this momentous occasion (and it was momentous considering I am not a journaler at heart), and since it is the month for valentines, I am giving away an enameled copper heart. Leave a comment on this post by midnight, EST on February 14th and your name will be entered in the drawing! You can choose what color you want your heart to be and if you want it to be matte or glossy. Here is an example...
I mentioned in an earlier post that I was meeting with another shop here in Austin that was interested in my work. I met with Perri, the owner of Perriberri in Westlake and had a wonderful meeting! Perri has a very eclectic eye and her upscale boutique reflects her incredible sense of style. I could have spent some serious money in there, easy! She purchased some prints and notecards, took some butterfly boxes on commission and ordered 8 pixies! Whew! Here are two of my favorites that I created for her...
She could dish it out...but could she take it...
Best in shoe
Perri let me set up the display on this shelf...right between purses and shoes where all pixies love to be!
Another lady bought the last 5 pixies from Steve at Uncommon Objects and wants me to contact her...it seems she owns a store in Colorado...
Near the end of last year I signed up for a workshop with encaustic artist Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch who was coming to San Antonio. I completely forgot about this until last Monday when Michelle, the coordinator of the event, emailed me and said she looked forward to seeing me on Friday. What? Memory jogged, I scrambled around trying to find child care and rounding up supplies. While looking at the supply list I realized that the workshop was on Saturday too (!), so there was a bit of wheedling with Paul so I could play on Saturday while he watched Fiona. I had a blast! The workshop was held at Michelle's lovely home and we had only 6 participants, so it was very relaxed...
Here is a shot of the work table...everyone was creating such amazing art! It was so interesting watching other artists from other backgrounds (fiber, painting, paper, etc.) put their own spin on encaustic...
Here is Tricia lighting something on fire...we all got to pay homage to our inner pyro!
Here I am with Tricia and Helen, my new New Zealand friend! It was truly a magical couple of days and I left tired but brimming with new creative energy, if such a combination is possible. Tricia is an excellent teacher and I highly recommend that if you can take a workshop with her, do so! I get to play with her again at ArtFest in March!
Would you like a sneak peek at some jewelry I am working on for upcoming shows in Vegas and Houston?
I soldered these sterling discs that I domed by hand onto adjustable sterling rings...NOT an easy task!
Then a little oxidizing for character...
And here is a shot of the work space as I sift through gem tintypes and various bits and pieces to collage into the bowls and later fill with resin...
And here is Harley looking to see what is competing with her for my attention...she is STILL tinged blue in certain areas...
Remember there is still time to join me and an excellent line-up of artists in Vegas for Art and Soul, February 21-24! I still have a few spaces in my Butterfly Boxes class and Perching Pixies. I am also debuting my new class, Magnetic personality! So check out those last minute plane fares and come join us!

Hi Steph,
Congratulations on your first
year of blogging... Delightful..
have fun at Art and Soul..
xoxo
